Daniel Lott – Shop Team

My name is Daniel, and I am a versatile and passionate skater. It brings me joy to share my enthusiasm for skating and to put a smile on other people’s faces.

At nearly 26 years old, I discovered inline skating for myself. I left behind my previous passion for software engineering, founded my company SkaMiDan, and have since dedicated myself wholeheartedly to the skate life!

Daniel Lott

Profile

1. Year of Birth:
1989

2. When did I start skating?
At the end of 2015, at almost 26 years old.

3. Personal Motto:
Freedom, happiness, and love begin when you stop comparing yourself to others, stop living by societal norms, stop fulfilling others' expectations and wishes, and start doing what you truly want for yourself.

4. Why SkaMiDan?
When I started inline skating, I was always skating alone. I wanted to change that, so I started a YouTube channel to connect with local skaters or to let them find me.

To keep myself motivated during that time, I began creating my first skate tutorials. That was the beginning of SkaMiDan – the acronym for "Skaten mit Daniel" („Skating with Daniel“).

5. Skate Disciplines:

  • Fitness Inline Skating
  • Urban Inline Skating
  • Aggressive Inline Skating
  • Freestyle Slalom Skating
  • Off-road Inline Skating
  • Urban Roller Skating
  • Freestyle Roller Skating
  • Ice Skating

6. Which skate discipline do I feel most comfortable with?

Freestyle Slalom Skating: Music on, disconnect, and dream.

7. Favorite skate spot(s):

  • Outdoors, with sunlight and sparkling water.
  • Trendsporthalle (Basel, Switzerland)

8. Biggest success in skating?
Owning my self-founded skate shop and always feeling comfortable on my skates.

9. Inspiration:
My inspiration for skating comes from memories of my youth when I would often pass the local skatepark and be amazed by the tricks of the skaters there.

Today, I’m inspired by the physical and mental fitness that skating provides, as well as the joy of inspiring others to skate and seeing their eyes light up.

10. Which trick impresses me the most?

  • Swan (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Backwards Toe Christie (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Flips in grinds (Aggressive Inline Skating)

11. Dream trick:
A handstand on the coping of a pipe, where I rotate 540° and then drop forward into the pipe (Aggressive Inline Skating).

12. Favorite trick(s):

  • Crazy (Freestyle Slalom Skating)
  • Frontside Grind (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • P-Star Grind (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • Handstand (Aggressive Inline Skating)

13. Favorite skate brand(s):

  • Powerslide
  • USD (Universal Skate Design)

14. Favorite skate(s):

  • USD Aeon 60
  • Powerslide HC Evo

15. Skate goal:
I skate for passion and fun, without a specific goal tied to a performance, like landing a particular trick or winning a competition.

However, my goal is to share my passion for skating. To achieve this, I want to produce as many skate videos and tutorials as possible and, in combination, gather and share information about skating to make it accessible to everyone.

16. Music while skating:

Favorite artists: Samy Deluxe, Julia Meladin Eminem, Miley Cyrus
When I listen to music while skating, it’s usually a mix of genres – hip-hop, pop, reggae, metal, and rock.

  • Aggressive Inline Skating and general skating: Hip-hop, reggae, rock
  • Freestyle Slalom Skating: Pop, melodic songs, and sad songs

17. What motivates me?

  • Hanging out with friends
  • Disconnecting from everyday life
  • The desire to release new tutorials, which requires me to learn the tricks myself
  • Staying fit and strengthening my mindset

18. My tips and skate hacks for other skaters:

  • Skate at your own level and don’t take unnecessary risks. This reduces the risk of injury and allows you to enjoy your favorite sport without interruptions.
  • Skate for yourself, not for others. It doesn’t matter how much or little you can do or how advanced you are; what matters is that you enjoy skating and are satisfied with yourself.
  • Don’t worry about what others think – just skate and have fun.
  • If you experience pressure points around your ankle, try placing an additional or higher shock absorber under your heel or liner. This can adjust your foot position and eliminate pressure points.
  • Wear thick footies while skating. They provide better protection for your ankles, allow you to skate longer, and are healthier for your bones and skin. If you wear them directly on your bare feet under your socks, they also reduce friction on your skin, preventing painful blisters.

19. My first skate when I started:
USD Carbon Team Blue

20. Favorite movie or series:

  • The Lovely Bones
  • Law Abiding Citizen
  • Money Heist (La Casa de Papel)

21. Favorite food:

  • Saten bread with fresh garlic and sprouts
  • Whole-grain pasta with fresh garlic, various crunchy vegetables, and olive oil
  • Black bean tempeh with fresh garlic and chili oil

22. Am I passionate about things other than skating?
Material things like cars, brands, technology, or clothing don’t impress me much – they just need to serve their purpose, nothing more, nothing less.

What truly excites me are people with intelligent minds and a passion for the topics they pursue with knowledge and dedication.
I also admire people who have developed special skills through creativity, skill, or strength.
I’m particularly fascinated when all of this comes together in a sport like skating, acrobatics, climbing, or dancing; musicals – or in art, like playing an instrument or singing impressively.

People who radiate joy, help others, and share smiles also deeply move me, as do healthy, delicious food and individuals who care for the environment.

23. Do I have other hobbies besides skating?
In addition to skating, I’m passionate about bouldering and sport climbing – I love staying active in general.

Regular stretching is just as much a part of my routine as preparing healthy and balanced meals.

24. What excites me about my other hobbies?
Bouldering and climbing are a perfect balance or complement to skating. They keep me fit, flexible, and both physically and mentally healthy.

Additionally, they’re enjoyable because you can chat with friends between climbs, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and everyone can be together – even the youngest members.

25. Fun fact / Personal note:
After discovering skating in 2015, I spent about 1.5 years skating almost daily. During that time, I quickly mastered the basics of various skate disciplines and significantly improved my fitness.

In 2018, I took the step into full-time self-employment in skating to dedicate more time to my passion and fully immerse myself in skating.
But, as often happens in life, things turned out differently: self-employment initially left me with less time to skate for myself.

Seven years later, in 2025, I had built my business to the point where I could finally skate regularly again and fully live out my passion.

Although I’ve been a big fan of Samy Deluxe’s music and art since childhood – his earlier albums often revolved around themes like Heineken (beer) and smoking – I’ve never smoked, used drugs, or consumed alcohol to this day and don’t plan to start.

His art of rhyme, wordplay, and lyrics continues to fascinate me to this day.

Daniel Lott – Shop Team – Story of my Skating

The starting signal

I am a passionate and versatile inline and roller skater who loves and lives skating. Driven by this enthusiasm, I began creating my own video and skate tutorials in 2016 to help others get started in the world of skating.

It quickly became clear to me that inline skating was far more than just a hobby. It represents freedom, balance, health, physical and mental fitness, friendship, courage – and so much more. This realization marked the starting point for SkaMiDan.

Skate Trainer with Passion

I was born in 1989 and grew up in the small, idyllic village of Haltingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. There, I had the great fortune of growing up in a friendly neighborhood that always helped one another and celebrated together.

But why am I telling you this? For me, inline skating embodies these exact values: joy, passion, openness, community, overcoming fears, experiencing shared successes, and the pure zest for life. Skating is like a small yet global family spread across the world.

It fills me with purpose to pass on these values. In skating—just like in life—it’s not about being better than others. Comparisons like that never lead to true happiness. So, what do we want in life? We want to be happy, have fun, and overcome the obstacles we face.

That is what drives me and makes skating so special to me.

And what does all of this have to do with skating?

For me, it’s a great joy to help others achieve their goals. It fulfills me to see the smiles and wide grins you have in my courses when you finally master a long-awaited trick or a new skating technique.

It makes me happy to witness how, with my support or that of my colleagues, you discover and learn a shared hobby as a family—a hobby that brings you just as much joy as it brings me and strengthens your bond as a family.

That, to me, is the true essence of skating: growing together, supporting one another, and sharing unforgettable moments.

Incredibly beautiful and motivating feedback

What could be better than direct feedback in the form of a smile?

Not much, right?

Well, there is something else: the wonderful feedback I’ve received as a skate trainer. These moments stay vividly in my memory and bring me joy every time. Here are some of the most memorable ones that I love to look back on:

  • "Thanks to you and your videos, I discovered inline skating. However, with my excess weight, it was almost impossible for me to feel safe on skates.

Without you and your patience as a trainer, I would have given up skating quickly. Thanks to you, I’ve reached my normal weight and now live a happy life again."

  • "We had been searching for a hobby that we could enjoy as a family for a long time. However, our fear of slopes and braking had held us back.

Thanks to you, we can now move more than just confidently on inline skates. We regularly go skating together, which has brought us closer as a family.

For that, we are infinitely grateful to you!"

  • "Our son was terrified of going to school—more precisely, he experienced a kind of panic. Giving a presentation in front of the class or raising his hand during lessons was utterly impossible for him.

Thanks to your aggressive inline skating courses, he learned to overcome fears, fall down, get back up, and achieve self-set goals. Like a miracle, he lost his fear of school and failure through this experience.

He is finally happy and shares so much with us again about his daily life and school."

My favorite skate disciplines

Freestyle Slalom Skating

Inline Freestyle Slalom Skating requires intense concentration, a lot of discipline, and excellent balance. One of the most motivating aspects is training with friends, where you encourage and support each other.

But inline slalom skating also offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in your own world. How? Put on your headphones, turn on the music – and dance through the cones.

It’s a feeling of freedom and rhythm that’s simply incomparable and makes you forget the world around you.

I love freestyle slalom skating, even when I’m just rolling through the cones for half an hour practicing basic tricks.

My favorite skate disciplines

Fitness & Urban Inline Skating

Fitness and Urban Inline Skating allow me to completely disconnect while pushing myself to the limit. Whether on streets, bike paths, or through cities, I savor the feeling of freedom with every meter.

Fitness Skating is low-risk, easy on the joints, keeps you fit, and is incredibly fun – especially with friends and other skaters. It combines movement, relaxation, and community in the best possible way.

In contrast, Urban Inline Skating requires confidence and courage, depending on the tricks, obstacles, or gaps you want to conquer.

My favorite skate disciplines

Aggressive Inline Skating

Aggressive Inline Skating, for me, is about stepping out of my comfort zone. It’s that mental battle before every new trick – the mix of fear, confidence, and awareness of my own abilities. The question: Do I dare to try the trick or not? In those moments, everything else fades away, and I lose myself in the present, feeling an incredible rush of endorphins when I finally go for it and succeed.

It’s an indescribable feeling, made even better when shared with friends. Spending an amazing day together at the skatepark – priceless!

And it doesn’t matter whether others are skating, playing cards, grilling, or just chilling. It’s always a good time.

My other passion

Bouldering & Climbing

When bouldering and sport climbing, it’s essential to remain highly focused. In these moments, I am fully aware of my entire body, finding my inner and physical balance, and completely connecting with myself.

Climbing is built on absolute trust – trust in the people around you, in your loved ones, but most importantly, in yourself.

Nowhere else are death and complete freedom so close to one another. A small moment of carelessness can have fatal consequences.

It’s a confrontation with yourself, nature, your physical abilities, and your own mind – a state of peace.
