A Sunny Winter Day

110 mm Urban Inline Skating by Marcel Kebekus

In the video „A Sunny Winter Day – 110 mm Urban Inline Skating“, we see SkaMiDan team rider Marcel Kebekus converting his USD Sway inline skates into urban inline skates, first tearing up a skatepark and then heading out to explore the city.

Thanks to the USD Sway soulplates on the USD Sway skates, he’s still able to grind despite the large 3x110 mm wheels—and he puts this to the test right away.

After the grind tests in the skatepark, he moves on into the city, where he cruises through passages, jumps over walls and trash cans, and lets his creativity run free.

Freeride & Urban Inline Skates

Inline Skates for Freeride & Urban Inline Skating

Freeride & Urban inline skates are specifically designed for skating in urban environments – meaning skating through the city as well as versatile use on asphalt. With urban inline skates, you’ll feel just as comfortable on bike paths, roads, parking lots, and rough city surfaces as you will on longer distances or steeper descents.

Thanks to their robust construction, more stable frames, and usually larger wheels, these skates offer a high level of control, smooth rolling, and shock absorption – even on uneven ground or poor asphalt. At the same time, they ensure efficient rolling, good power transfer, and a safe, confident ride at higher speeds.

Freeride and urban skates are ideal for sporty fitness skating, daily commuting, or demanding city sessions with tricks such as jumping off walls, riding down stairs, skating on pump tracks, and much more.

This makes freeride & urban inline skates the perfect choice for anyone who wants to move safely and flexibly – or with action-packed tricks – on streets and paved paths, while valuing stability, comfort, and versatility.

Kids’ Freeride & Urban Skates

Freeride & Urban Inline Skates for Kids and Growing Feet

Our range of freeride and urban inline skates for children and teenagers offers young skaters the ideal opportunity to explore the city in a playful way and gain their first experiences in the versatile world of urban skating.

Children learn especially quickly and rapidly develop a good sense of balance, control, and speed. Whether cruising safely through the park, skating to school, or overcoming small obstacles such as curbs, ramps, or inclines – every bit of progress builds pride and strengthens self-confidence. These moments of success go far beyond skating and help foster courage, independence, and everyday movement confidence.

With our size-adjustable freeride and urban inline skates, children and teenagers can get off to a great start right from the beginning. The skates grow with them, can be used over multiple seasons, and consistently provide the stability, comfort, and control needed for skating in urban environments.

Freeride & Urban Frames

Frames and Frames for Freeride & Urban Inline Skating

Can’t find a freeride or urban inline skate that suits your needs, is your favorite skate not available with your preferred setup, or do you already own a pair of inline skates that fits perfectly and you don’t want to give up?

No stress: with the wide selection of urban and freeride frames (also called rails or frames), you can easily convert the skates you already own into an agile, robust setup for the city, streets, and rougher surfaces.

Whether it’s long urban sessions, stairs, poor asphalt sections, or fast cruising through the city – the right frame gives your skates more stability, control, and versatility, without having to buy new boots right away.

All your inline skates need for this is one of the common frame mounting systems:

  • 165 mm Dual Point Mounting
(common on urban, freestyle, and fitness inline skates)
  • UFS Mounting
(classic on aggressive inline skates, increasingly also used in the freeride segment)
  • Trinity Mounting
(often found on modern urban and freeride inline skates from brands such as Powerslide)
  • ACT Interlink
(flexible multi-mount system by Powerslide or Iqon)

This way, you can keep skating your favorite skates and perfectly adapt them to your needs or your favorite spot with the right urban or freeride frame.

Protective Gear

Protective Gear for Freeride & Urban Inline Skating

The right protective gear plays a central role in freeride and urban inline skating. It not only protects you from injuries, but above all gives you more safety and confidence – especially in dense city traffic, on rough asphalt, in wet conditions, on stairs, when doing tricks on different obstacles, or at confusing spots.

With targeted prevention and reliable protection, you can skate regularly, avoid unnecessary breaks, and continue skating and practicing consistently. Especially in urban environments with all their hustle and bustle, this really pays off: every session improves your riding feel, control, and reaction skills when dealing with obstacles, changing surfaces, and unexpected situations.

The additional confidence that good protective gear gives you helps you approach new lines, descents, or narrow passages in a more relaxed way. You’ll gain confidence faster, dare to tackle more challenging spots, and overall have more fun skating – whether you’re cruising through the city or doing intense freeride tricks.

For freeride & urban inline skating, we generally recommend all of our protective gear, as long as it matches your personal skating style and the associated demands:

  • Helmet (please always wear a stunt helmet / skate helmet)
  • Elbow pads
  • Knee pads
  • Shin guards (often not useful, depending on skating style)
  • Protective shorts
  • Upper body protection (recommended for large gaps and stair drops several meters high)

With the right protective gear, you’re perfectly prepared to enjoy urban and freeride inline skating safely, with control, and with maximum enjoyment.
