Snake Walk – Trick Clip

For a first impression of freestyle slalom roller skating, Julia shows us the trick „Snake Walk“.

The Snake Walk is one of the fundamental beginner tricks in slalom quad skating and is among the first elements learned after the basics.

It forms an important foundation for many advanced tricks and helps you develop a better feel for edge control, weight transfer, and cone spacing.

Freestyle & Slalom Roller Skates

Roller Skates for Freestyle & Slalom Roller Skating

Freestyle and slalom roller skating can generally be practiced with almost any roller skates. However, for slalom skating, we recommend models with an adjustable toe stop or jam plug, as a fixed, non-adjustable stopper can be restrictive for many tricks.

Some tricks, such as the pivot spin, are perfect for initiating a clean direction change in slalom roller skating. For elements like these, a toe stop or jam plug is required.

Below, you’ll find all the roller skates from our range that we recommend for freestyle and slalom roller skating.

Kids Roller Skates & Quad Skates

Roller Skates for Kids and growing feet

Our roller skates for kids are not specifically designed for freestyle or slalom roller skating, but they can definitely be used for it.

Most roller skates developed specifically for children do not feature an adjustable toe stop, but rather a fixed toe stop height. This can be limiting for certain slalom tricks.

Nevertheless, we recommend the following models for kids – not only for getting started with slalom roller skating, but also for safely learning the first and next steps on roller skates.

Some of our kids’ roller skates are also size-adjustable and cover multiple shoe sizes at once. This means they essentially “grow” with the child and provide long-lasting enjoyment.

Success and fun in Slalom Roller Skating

Cones, toe guards, and accessories for Freestyle Slalom Roller Skating

Cones, also known as markers or training cones, are absolutely essential for slalom roller skating. They form the foundation for technical training, line control, and clean footwork. For basic practice, a single row of 20 cones is already sufficient to systematically work on first figures, turns, and transitions.

However, if you want to pursue slalom roller skating more intensively and further develop your technical skills, we recommend a complete setup with a total of 54 cones. This setup follows the classic slalom spacing and allows you to properly train all difficulty levels and figures.

In slalom roller skating, there are three different cone lines:

  • One row of 20 cones spaced 50 cm apart
  • One row of 20 cones spaced 80 cm apart (main line)
  • One row of 14 cones spaced 120 cm apart

With this complete slalom setup, you can structure your training effectively, work on technique, flow, and control, and gradually take your skills to the next level.

Beyond cones, we also offer toe guards for your roller skates to protect the front area of the boot from wear, as well as other practical accessories.

Wheels & LED light-up wheels

Wheels & LED light-up wheels for Slalom Roller Skating

So that you’re perfectly equipped for every surface and different types of ground conditions, you’ll find a wide selection of roller skate wheels in our range: soft and hard wheels, smaller and larger diameters, as well as LED and light-up wheels.

Light-up and LED wheels not only look stylish and are fun to ride – they also provide an added safety benefit, especially if you’re skating in the evening or in low-light conditions.

Please note: The smaller and rounder the wheels, the more agile and maneuverable you’ll be. The larger the wheels, the higher your potential speed.

Smaller wheels are particularly suitable for advanced slalom roller skaters, while larger wheels are usually the better choice for beginners.

Why? Beginners often find it difficult to start rolling without additional momentum. Since larger wheels pick up speed more easily and maintain it longer, they make getting started easier and provide a smoother, more comfortable skating experience.
