The „Lemon“ is one of the most important fundamentals in Inline Freestyle Slalom Skating. This simple yet highly effective beginner trick helps you develop a better feel for your inline skates, improve your balance, and skate through slalom cones with greater control.
The name comes from the movement itself: your skates open and close in a curved pattern, creating a track on the ground that resembles a lemon. This smooth and flowing motion makes the Lemon an ideal exercise for anyone starting with the basics of inline slalom skating.
What is the Lemon?
In the Lemon, you move both inline skates outward and then back inward at the same time. This creates smooth, rounded arcs. Instead of simply skating straight ahead, you generate forward momentum by opening and closing your legs.
By practicing the Lemon, you improve:
- Balance on your skates
- Edge control
- Knee bend and body posture
- Coordination of both legs
- Sense of rhythm and speed
