Wizard Skating – Basics and things to know

Wizard skating is a modern inline skating style that combines technical precision, fluid movement, and creative urban skating, with a strong focus on controlled turns, rotations, transitions, and clean edge work.

Instead of aggressive tricks, the emphasis is on aesthetics, body control, and a harmonious flow, where each spot is interpreted individually. The style demands both technique and concentration and rewards clean execution with an exceptionally smooth, almost dance-like riding feeling.

Wizard skating requires a high level of focus, patience, and technically clean execution, but it rewards skaters with a unique, flowing riding experience. Once you’ve felt what perfectly controlled wizard tricks — such as the “Gazelle” — are like, you quickly understand why wizard skating has become the ultimate form of expression on wheels for many inline skaters.

Wizard skates are made for skaters who want to rethink movement. Not faster, not higher – but more precise, more controlled, and more mindful. They are specifically designed to execute flowing lines, deep turns, and complex footwork on urban surfaces – where concrete, open space, and architecture become a canvas.

Whether on smooth surfaces, wide plazas, quiet paths, or minimalist city spots: with a wizard skate, you move in a controlled, calm, and powerful way at the same time. The longer, stable frames and the balanced wheel setup provide exceptional smoothness, precise edge control, and direct feedback with every weight shift. This enables clean turns, stable one-foot moves, and flowing transitions that are hardly achievable with classic urban setups.

If you want to deepen your skating, learn new movement patterns, and develop your own style, a wizard skate is more than just new equipment. It is a tool to take your skating to a new level – calmer, more precise, and more expressive.

Wizard skates are the perfect choice for anyone who doesn’t just want to understand wizarden, but truly explore and feel it.

Complete wizard skates are unfortunately only rarely offered by producers and manufacturers, which is why the selection is rather limited.
In addition to dedicated wizard inline skates, you can also use wizard boots or almost any urban boot or skate and mount your desired wizard frame to it.

Wizard skating thrives on creativity – and that creativity begins with assembling your very first custom wizard skate.

    Urban Inline Skates

If you already own urban inline skates or are planning to get a new pair, this is also a great way – and option – to get started with Wizard Skating.
Urban inline skates provide exactly the support and stability you need for Wizard Skating.

That’s why we don’t want to withhold our range of urban inline skates from you, as they often offer an affordable entry into the world of Wizarden.
With an urban inline skate and the right Wizard frame, you get two skate setups in one and can adapt your inline skates at any time to suit your current needs and skating goals.

    Wizard Frames

A wizard frame is defined by a natural rocker or progressive rocker, combined with precise manufacturing and a specific material density and stiffness.

    • Natural Rocker
A natural rocker is characterized by the frontmost and rearmost wheels being slightly raised. As a result, depending on your weight distribution, only two wheels are in contact with the ground at any given time while skating.
This setup provides high maneuverability and a very agile ride, making turns and direction changes especially easy and intuitive.
    • Progressive Rocker
With a progressive rocker, five wheels are used in a three-stage setup.
The outer wheels (front and rear) are positioned highest, the second front and second rear wheels sit slightly lower, and the middle wheel is positioned lowest.
The easiest way to imagine this setup is like a banana lying on its back. The result is a very even, controlled rocker shape with maximum maneuverability and stability in the center.

Is a new wizard inline skate too expensive for you, or do you already own a perfectly fitting urban inline skate?

With a wizard frame, you can transform your existing inline skates into a wizard skate while keeping your familiar comfort. The longer frames and balanced wheel layout ensure exceptional smoothness, stability, and edge control. Every weight shift becomes immediately noticeable, every movement clearly defined.

All your skates need is one of the common frame mounting systems:

    • 165 mm Dual Point Mounting
(the classic mounting system used by most manufacturers)
    • UFS Mounting
(almost every aggressive skate is standardized with UFS mounting)
    • Trinity Mounting
(most commonly found on inline skates from Powerslide)
    • ACT Interlink
(flexible multi-mount system by Powerslide or Iqon)

This way, you can keep skating your favorite skates – and give them a completely new dimension with a wizard frame.
No forced new purchase, but a conscious step toward more precision, flow, and expression on wheels.

A wizard frame is not an accessory.
It is an invitation to rediscover your skating.

    Protective Gear

    Protective Gear for Wizard Skating

The right protective gear is also an important part of Wizard Skating. It not only protects you from injuries, but above all gives you safety and calmness – the foundation for consistent training.

Precisely because Wizard Skating is based on balance, weight shifts, and conscious control, good protective gear helps you approach new moves, transitions, and lines in a more relaxed way. Less fear means more focus, more control, and faster progress.

Depending on your personal style, we primarily recommend:
a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads, with protective shorts as an optional addition.

With the right protective gear, you create the ideal foundation for mindful and controlled Wizard Skating.
