This enables us to offer a comprehensive range and gives you the advantage of always receiving original goods first hand. We are also in close contact with the respective manufacturers and can offer you comprehensive service and support even beyond product deliveries.

One order, but items with different delivery times

Items with different lead times (e.g. 'Ready to ship in 2-3 business days' and 'Ready to ship immediately' ) are not normally shipped separately.

In order to offer you lower shipping costs and also to protect our environment, we usually ship all items in an order together.

If the items ordered in an order are marked with different delivery times, the delivery time for the item with the longest delivery time applies. Items marked as pre-orders will be sent separately and individually.

If you need one or more of the items ordered immediately, please contact us, a simple message via email or WhatsApp is sufficient. Alternatively, you can also let us know via the comments field in the checkout process (yes, we really do read these messages).

    1. Your Checklist for Choosing the Right Ice Skating Blades

Before choosing your new ice skating blades, have the following information ready:

          • The brand, model and size of your skates.
          • Your preferred design: ice blade frame, blade insert or replacement blade.
          • The mounting standard or the exact frame or holder model.
          • For blade inserts: number of wheels, axle spacing, axle diameter and any rocker geometry.
          • For figure skating boots: boot model, manufacturer's size and recommended blade length.

Not sure which ice blades fit your setup? Send us at SkaMiDan the model name and clear photos of the mounting system and any existing size markings. Together, we can check which option could work for your skates – so you can soon be carving your next turns on the ice.

By the way, you can find all our ice skating blades here.

    2. Which Inline Skates Can Be Converted into Ice Skates?

Many inline skates can be converted into ice skates using suitable ice blades. Whether your skates are from Powerslide, USD, Roces, Razors, K2, Rollerblade, FR Skates or another brand does not, on its own, indicate compatibility. What matters is the specific model and its construction.

There are two ways to convert your skates:

          • Ice blade frames: You replace the entire wheel frame with a frame fitted with an ice blade.
          • Blade inserts: The frame stays attached to the boot. You remove the wheels and attach suitable blades at the designated axle mounting points.

Not every combination works. For example, Powerslide explicitly rules out using its Sabres blade inserts with the Kizer Fluid IV UFS frame. Always check the specifications for your particular frame and the blade you want to use.

Back to the Table of Contents

    3. Ice Blade Frames: Replacing the Entire Frame

With an ice blade frame, the holder and ice blade form a complete unit. To convert your skates, remove the existing frame from the boot and install a compatible ice frame.

    3.1 Which Mounting Standard Fits?

Depending on your skates, different frame mounting systems may apply:

          • UFS mounting standard: You need an ice blade frame specifically designed for UFS.
          • Trinity mounting standard: The ice frame must fit the three-point mounting system with two front mounting points and one rear mounting point.
          • 165 mm Dual Point mounting standard: The ice blade frame must fit the two-point mounting system with 165 mm spacing and the boot's mounting geometry (raised heel).

Trinity and 165 mm Dual Point are different systems and are not directly interchangeable. An adapter is only a solution if it is explicitly suitable for the combination in question.

Important: “Dual Point” simply means a two-point mounting system. Check the actual mounting distance – a different two-point mounting system will not automatically fit a 165 mm ice blade frame.

3.2 What Size Ice Blade Frame Do You Need?

The correct mounting system and the right blade length are two separate selection criteria. A frame may attach to your boot while still falling outside the recommended size range for it.

Use the respective manufacturer's size chart as your guide. For the Powerslide Trident, for example, we list boot size ranges, while FR matches its Ice Freestyle Frames to specific inline frame configurations, among other criteria. These recommendations cannot simply be applied to other blade models.

Here, you should consider whether you would prefer a shorter blade for greater agility or a longer one for a more stable stance.

Back to the Table of Contents

    4. Blade Inserts: Installing Ice Blades in Your Existing Frame

Blade inserts fit into the existing frame in place of the wheels. This means conversion may also be possible for skates whose frames cannot be unscrewed.

In principle, several types of construction may be suitable:

          • Skates with UFS, Trinity or Dual Point frames.
          • Skates with riveted frames.
          • Skates with a unibody construction, where the boot shell and frame are made as a single piece.

These construction types do not guarantee compatibility. With blade inserts, what matters is how they fit inside the frame. The connection between the boot and frame is not the deciding selection criterion.

4.1 How to Find the Right Size Blade Inserts

Check the following points before buying:

          1. Frame model and number of wheels: Is the blade insert designed for your frame and its three- or four-wheel configuration?
          2. Axle spacing: Do the required mounting positions align with the mounting points in the frame?
          3. Axle diameter: Do the axles fit the blade mounts, or are suitable adapters required?
          4. Installation width and clearance: Can the blade be installed correctly using the specified spacers?
          5. Rocker: Are the axle mounting points all at the same height, or does the frame have offset axle positions?

For Powerslide Sabres 3, the choice depends on the supported frame dimensions. For skates with 6 mm axles, the manufacturer specifies that additional adapters are required. Always use the size chart and installation instructions for the specific product version.

4.2 Measuring Frame Length Correctly and Understanding Rockered Frames

When choosing many blade inserts, frame length refers to the wheelbase measured from the centre of the frontmost wheel axle to the centre of the rearmost wheel axle. Do not simply measure the frame's overall external length. Powerslide uses this exact measuring method for the Sabres 3, for example.

Keep in mind: a matching overall axle distance alone does not confirm that all the required mounting points will fit.

Do blade inserts fit rockered frames?
That depends on the combination. In a pre-rockered frame, the axle mounting points are not all at the same height.

Suitable solutions are available for selected frames: Powerslide Sabres 4-R blades, for example, come with special rocker spacers for use with certain Nova frames and other rockered frames. However, you should not assume this means they are compatible with all rockered frames.

Back to the Table of Contents

    5. Replacement Ice Skate Blades: Check the Holder and Size

If you want to replace the blades on your existing ice skates, first check whether the model allows the blades to be replaced separately.

For ice skates with replaceable blades, the following specifications in particular must match:

          • The manufacturer and model of the blade holder.
          • The mounting or locking system.
          • The blade size specified for the holder.

The same brand or a similar length is not enough. For example, the BAUER POWERFLY Holder is only compatible with the FLY-TI and FLY-X blades designed for it; several other BAUER blade series do not fit.

Choose replacement blades based on the exact holder model and size marking, together with the corresponding manufacturer's chart or our product specifications.

Back to the Table of Contents

    6. Figure Skating Blades: Consider Your Boot Model, Sole Length and Skating Level

For traditional figure skating blades with mounting plates, matching the blade to the boot is particularly important. The EU shoe size alone cannot reliably determine the blade size.

6.1 How Do You Find the Right Figure Skating Blade Size?

Use the recommendation for your exact boot model and size. The shape of the sole affects which blade length fits. Edea, for example, points out that the construction of some of its boots means they require shorter blades than traditional models from other brands.

Figure skating blade sizes are often given in inches. This measurement refers to the length between the front and rear mounting plates and should not be confused with the entire visible steel blade. A general conversion from EU shoe size to blade size is therefore not reliable.

6.2 Which Figure Skating Blade Suits Your Skating Style?

In addition to size, blades differ in features such as their longitudinal profile, known as the rocker, their toe pick design and their height. Different versions are available even within the same brand. Choose a model that suits your discipline and skill level – ideally together with your coach if you are specifically training jumps or spins.

Precise alignment helps you control your edges.

    7. Converting Inline Skates into Ice Skates – Tutorial

With the right ice blade set, you can easily turn your inline skates into ice skates. This lets you use your skates not only on pavement in summer, but also at ice rinks or on frozen lakes in winter.
The big advantage: you can use the same skates all year round, without having to get used to a different pair, and save space.

This conversion is practical, cost-effective and sustainable – perfect for anyone who loves skating in every season.

We show you what you need, what to look out for and how the conversion works in our detailed blog post – with both an in-depth video tutorial and written instructions complete with photos.

With the right blades, you can turn your inline skates into true all-rounders!

    Care instructions

How to Keep Your Ice Skate Blades Sharp & Rust-Free – Care Tips for Long-Lasting Skates
If you regularly hit the ice, you know: well-maintained blades make all the difference. Sharp, rust-free skate blades provide better control, improved technique, and of course, more fun on the ice. To keep your skates in top condition, we've put together the most important care tips for you.

    1. After Skating: Dry Thoroughly

Condensation, ice residue, and meltwater quickly lead to rust – especially when skates are left in a warm car or a bag. That's why: after every use, wipe the blades with a dry, soft cloth before storing them.

    2. Use the Right Blade Guards

To protect your blades during transport and storage, two types of guards are useful:

    Hard blade guards:

    • Perfect for walking off the ice (e.g., in the rink or parking lot).
They protect the blades from damage caused by hard surfaces.

    Soft fabric blade covers:

    • Put on after drying to absorb any remaining moisture – protecting the edges from rust and scratches during transport or in your bag.

Important: Always remove hard guards after use, as moisture can accumulate underneath!

    3. Have Your Blades Sharpened Regularly

Even with normal use, blades lose their sharpness over time. Dull blades make skating more difficult and unsafe. Our recommendation:

Have your blades professionally sharpened every 15–25 hours on the ice, or whenever you feel like your control in turns is fading.

If you often skate on natural ice, check the blades even more frequently.

    4. Prevent Rust – Store Properly

Rust is a blade’s worst enemy. Here’s how to prevent it:

    • Don’t store skates in plastic bags or damp equipment bags.
    • Don’t leave them in the car or garage, especially overnight.

Store them at room temperature in a dry, well-ventilated place.
You can gently remove light rust spots with a sharpening rubber or very fine steel wool – but be careful: never damage the blade’s edge!

    5. Hands Off the Edges

Avoid touching the blades with your hands. Sweat, skin oils, and dirt can damage the sensitive surface.
If you do touch them: clean and dry them immediately afterward.

    Conclusion:

    Blade Care Pays Off

With just a few simple steps, you can significantly extend the life of your skates – and get the most out of every skating session. Whether you're a beginner, recreational skater, or ambitious figure skater: well-maintained blades mean more fun, safety, and performance on the ice.

Tip: In our online shop you'll find suitable blade guards, drying cloths, and care accessories – everything you need for optimal blade maintenance!

The first steps on ice – How to ice skate

To learn a sport not only correctly but also with enjoyment, having the right equipment is essential. In our shop, you’ll find only products that have personally convinced us and that we would use ourselves for various occasions.

We, the Shop Team and Team SkaMiDan, wish you just as much fun with roller sports as we have ourselves.

When that happens, we’ll be satisfied and happy too.
